Terms of Use
Better Translate. Last updated 24 September 2026.
Better Translate is provided by Ultim8 Holdings Inc., a New York corporation
("we", "us"). Downloading or using the app means you accept these terms. If you
do not accept them, delete the app.
Your licence to use the app
Your licence to use Better Translate is Apple's
Licensed
Application End User License Agreement, which applies to every app bought
through the App Store. These terms sit alongside it and cover what is specific
to this app. Where the two genuinely conflict, Apple's agreement governs the
licence itself and these terms govern everything else.
What the app does, and what it cannot promise
Better Translate transcribes speech on your device, reads text out of a
photograph on your device, and sends the resulting text, and on a fast
connection the photograph itself, to be translated by an AI model.
Machine translation is sometimes wrong, and sometimes confidently
wrong. It can miss negation, reverse who is speaking, mistake an
ingredient, or silently drop a clause. Do not rely on Better Translate for
anything where an error causes harm: medical instructions, allergen and
dietary information, legal or financial documents, safety warnings, dosage,
or emergency communication. Confirm anything that matters with a person.
The app needs an internet connection to translate. We do not promise it will
be available without interruption, and we may change or remove features.
What you can buy
Better Translate offers two auto-renewing subscriptions and one one-time
purchase:
- Weekly. $0.99 per week, renewing.
- Yearly. $23.99 per year, renewing.
- Lifetime. $99.99 once, no renewal. It covers the same two
features for as long as the app exists, and carries a fair-use ceiling on
the translation service behind it, described below.
Prices are in US dollars and are shown in your own currency in the app;
they differ between countries.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at
least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the
current period, at the rate then shown.
- Manage or cancel in the Settings app on your device, under your name, then
Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next charge; the app keeps working
until the period you have paid for runs out.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
The lifetime purchase
Lifetime is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to
cancel and nothing renews. It is tied to the Apple Account that bought it and
survives reinstalling, restoring or changing phone, because it is verified
against the App Store rather than against an account with us.
"Lifetime" means the lifetime of the app, which is the ordinary meaning of the
word in an App Store listing. If we ever stop operating the translation service,
it ends, and we will say so in advance rather than letting it fail quietly.
It carries a fair-use ceiling on the translation service, because a one-time
payment against an ongoing per-request cost has to have one. The ceiling is set
far above normal travel use and is not something an ordinary user will meet. If
you do reach it we will tell you inside the app rather than silently degrading
what you paid for.
Payment and refunds
Apple handles every payment. We never see your card, your billing address or
your name. Refunds are Apple's to give, not ours: request one at
reportaproblem.apple.com. If a
charge looks wrong, write to us and we will help you work out what happened,
but we cannot issue the refund ourselves.
What you may not do
- Use the app to break the law, or to translate material you have no right
to use.
- Send content that is unlawful in the place you are, including material
that sexually exploits children.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or work around the subscription, except where
the law says you may.
- Automate the app, resell access to it, or put its translation service
behind another product.
- Deliberately overload the service.
Text you send is passed to a third-party AI provider and is subject to that
provider's own acceptable-use rules. We may block access if the service is being
abused.
Your content
What you say, photograph and type stays yours. We claim no rights over it.
We do not keep a copy: our servers hold text and photographs only for as long
as a translation request takes. What leaves your phone, and what does not, is set out in the
privacy policy.
Age
Better Translate is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the
age of majority where you live, you may use the app only with a parent or
guardian's consent.
Disclaimer and limits
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law
allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including
merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and
non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect,
incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits,
lost data, or losses arising from a translation being wrong. Our total liability
for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before
the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is so, the
limits above apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits
liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Apple's position
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to support the app.
Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against
you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty may be directed to
Apple, which may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty
obligation. Claims about the app, whether product liability, a failure to meet a
legal requirement, or a privacy claim, are our responsibility, not Apple's. If a
third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property, we handle it,
not Apple.
Ending it
You can stop at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the
app. We may suspend or end your access if these terms are seriously or
repeatedly broken. If we do that without cause while you have paid time
remaining, we will ask Apple to refund the unused part.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes and the new version is
published here. Material changes are shown in the app before they take effect.
Continuing to use the app after that means you accept them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard
to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts
located in New York County, New York, and you and we each consent to that.
Nothing here removes a right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the
country you live in, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts where
that law gives you one.
The whole agreement
These terms, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and the
privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the app. If a court
finds any part unenforceable, the rest still stands.
